Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Checks
This service is provided as a convenient means of arranging for a CRB check for any officer, instructor, assistant instructor or any volunteers involved in the EGKA and its associated dojos.
Please read the following instructions, which explains the process one should follow to obtain a CRB check.
When a CRB check is carried out using this system, both the applicant and the EGKA receive a copy of the CRB findings. If any matter of concern is identified in the report, the senior EGKA management team automatically becomes involved and they will convene a meeting to consider what action should be taken. The ultimate sanction is to withdraw EGKA membership from the individual concerned.
Be advised that it is a legal obligation that all EGKA officers, instructors, assistant instructors and volunteers that come into contact with children (18 yrs) and vulnerable adults apply to have a CRB check carried out.
It is a EGKA requirement that all its officers, instructors, and assistant instructors and volunteers have a CRB check, even if they do not ordinarily come into contact with children and vulnerable adults.
Please be advised that you can make alternative arrangements to have a CRB check carried out with another agency. You don´t have to use the scheme the EGKA has put in place here.
Notwithstanding the limitations of the CRB checking process (it is out of date as soon as it is completed), it is nonetheless a practical way of independantly checking that undesirable individuals do not use the EGKA as a vehicle to come into contact with our younger and more vulnerable members.
To encourage people to renew in 2010, the EGKA will refund the cost of one CRB check per club if carried out before the end of September. Please confirm with Mike Draper before carrying out a check and applying for a refund if you intend to take advantage of this concession.
