Grading Registration Process - Please read carefully

Students wishing to grade this December should arrange that the relevant registration forms (see below) are completed and signed by their Sensei in good time. Applications should be posted to the EGKA Secretary, 47 Bargates, Christchurch, Dorset, BH23 1QD to arrive no later than 1st December 2010.

In future, a registration form will not be accepted as complete unless:

  • –   The latest versions of the registration forms for Kyu and Dan grades are used
  • –   A colour, passport-sized photograph is attached to the form
  • –   The form is signed by the candidate´s instructor
  • –   In the case of black belts, the katakana section is properly completed

It is in your best interests to get the form completed correctly the first time around. In the June 2010 grading 14 forms were rejected and the candidates had to resubmit their applications again as we will not return incomplete forms. The reasons for rejection were typically lack of photos, the katakana section had not been completed, and the candidate had not obtained their sensei´s signature. Please don´t be the first candidate the Grading Panel rejects just because you failed to submit a properly completed form in to us in good time.

We will accept emailed copies of application forms on or before the 1st December 2010, provided the original and properly completed forms are handed to the Secretary no later than the close of the Saturday training session. As grading candidate lists have to be drawn up over Saturday night, we will not accept forms being handed in on Sunday morning. No exceptions will be made.

PLEASE NOTE: To help the grading panel better identify the candidates in the line up, kyu grades will henceforth also be required to attach a colour photograph to their registration forms.

In future we will require all candidates to present to the grading registration desk to pay for their grading in the Sunday lunch break on the day of the grading. The grading fees have to be accounted for separately from the weekend´s training fees, and to simplify matters we will not accept payments to cover both the training and the grading fees at the start of the weekend.

List of accepted applicants for the December Grading

Please note that the grading committee has decided that there is only one way to avoid the administrative problems of the last December grading, which were caused by late submissions. This year, if a student´s name does not appear on the Grading List below at midnight of 1st December 2010, they will not grade. We started accepting applications from as early as 5th February 2010. So the grading committee will not accept any excuse for a late applications.

Individual students must accept responsibility for ensuring their name correctly appears under the right heading on the Grading List below. If you have submitted an application and it does not appear on the list below after a few days, please email the Secretary or call Ralph Elliott-King on 01202 474545 so we can address the matter.

The following brown and junior black belt grading applications have been received:

3rd Kyu 2nd Kyu 1st Kyu Jnr Shodan

The following black belt grading applications have been received:

Jnr Nidan Shodan Nidan Sandan

Please note: Those applicants with a (P) alongside their names have supplied us an email application that has been accepted on a ‘provisional’ basis. Provided the Secretary receives a properly completed and signed original replacement form by the close of the Saturday session on 4th December, we will confirm the application. It is the responsibility of the individual candidate concerned to ensure the deliver of the correctly completed form to the Secretary, not the other way around.

EGKA Membership

All students wishing to train or grade must ensure their EGKA membership is up to date and in force over the grading weekend. If you apply to grade, the Grading Panel will assume you have taken personal responsibility to ensure you possess the appropriate EGKA Members´ Slip to prove your membership on the day of the grading. You will be required to present the Members Slip as part of the grading registration process. To renew expired membership, please click here.
